Detox Your Body And Restore The Balance After Using Mirena

Did you know that IUD’s (Intrauterine Device) like the Mirena are the preferred choice for contraception among gynecologists? The small T-shaped device that is inserted into uterus is considered to be the most reliable form of birth control.

However, there are severe side effects related to the use of the device which can affect some women more severely than others. Some of the more common symptoms include:

– Extreme weight gain
– Severe mood swings
– Depression
– Irregular bleeding and spotting
– Fibroids
– Polycystic ovarian syndrome
– Decreased sex drive
– Abdominal Pain

There are a number of other side effects that are more rare but can be hazardous and result in chronic illness or sometimes fatal health conditions.

These side effects are due to the fine balance of hormones in the female body being disrupted. The Mirena device releases levonorgestrel which is a man-made progestin hormone into the body preventing pregnancy for up to 12 years. However, after a period of time, the body stops creating it’s own progestin leading to an over production of estrogen.

This hormonal imbalance is the major contributing factor to the side effects experienced by women who choose this birth control method. Simply removing the device is often not enough and most women experience an increase in symptoms once the IUD has been taken out.

The most effective solution to eliminate these symptoms is through a detox diet.

Detoxing From Mirena Side Effects:

1. Remove The Excess

Excess progestin and estrogen should be naturally excreted in the urine. However, in cases where there is an unusually high production of the hormones, levels can build-up in the body causing some or all of the symptoms mentioned above. Introducing antioxidant food types into the diet and drinking plenty of water can help your body detox naturally. There are some foods that you will need to eliminate from your diet.

You can have your hormone levels tested by your doctor to find out if you have a hormonal imbalance. However, regular testing is recommended while using the Mirena detox plan so it is best to learn to do this at home with a testing kit from your local pharmacy.

2. Restoring The Balance

Certain food types aid the natural production of hormones in the female body. Introducing these foods can help your body produce more progestin restoring the balance and eliminating many of the symptoms.

3. Dieting And Exercise

Most women who experience Mirena side effects do not show any weight loss results with regular dieting and exercise. The Mirena detox plan has been specifically designed to assist weight loss by addressing the cause of the weight gain and not just the symptoms.

A hormonal imbalance lowers the body’s metabolism. This is the rate at which food is turned into energy and a lower metabolism increases the amount of fat that is stored by the body. The detox diet improves the metabolism allowing fat stores to be broken down resulting in rapid weight loss.

Women using the Mirena device may also find that they have unusually high cravings for carbohydrates and sweet foods. By ensuring that the body receives the correct nutrition, these cravings can be decreased and even eliminated.

Exercise is an essential part of the Mirena detox diet and speeds up the detox process, improves metabolism while aiding in weight loss.

4. A Total Lifestyle Change

It is important to understand that this detox diet will require a total lifestyle change. This means that you will need to follow the diet plan on a long term basis after detoxing to ensure that a balance is maintained.

5. Fighting The Other Side Effects

Additional foods can also help combat the other side effects of a hormonal imbalance such as depression and mood swings as well as restore a normal sex drive and libido. However, ensuring that the hormones are in balance, as well as the weight loss that you will experience, can go a long way towards naturally eliminating these side effects.

While the Mirena detox plan has been found to be helpful in treating other illnesses related to hormonal imbalance, the diet was designed specifically to treat the side effects of the Mirena device.

Oh my goodness! I know all of your pains with the pill. I am cutnlrrey on a low dose pill since I’m breastfeeding while we wait for my husband to get snipped in December. I did get pregnant with Rylie on the low dose pill while breastfeeding Sydney. I had never had a period and so I was totally surprised to find out I was pregnant. This also makes me super nervous now. I feel like I’m still going through everything you have mentioned even with the low dose pill. I guess my hormones are so out of wack though that I don’t know what normal is supposed to feel like. I’ve been pregnant or breastfeeding for almost the last 6 years. Maybe it’s my pill causing a lot of the problems though.I used Ortho Tricyclen Lo when I was younger to also help regulate my periods, but I did gain weight and felt absolutely awful. I struggled with everything that you have mentioned. Most of my weight issues come from hormones and it’s awful. Thank you for posting this. It’s something that sooooooo many women go through and don’t realize, or just suffer alone. What had you been using before starting this pill? If you don’t mind me asking. I’m just curious since I’ve had so many of the same problems and my husband keeps putting off his surgery because he’s not sure he wants to be done having babies.
